Population Ecology of the Pacific Tree Frog

چکیده
We examined aspects of the population ecology of the Pacific Tree Frog (Hyla regilla) in a meadow of Corn Lily (Veratrum californicum) in the Sierra Nevada Mts. during July 2000. Using mark-recapture techniques we estimate the abundance of H. regilla to be 25±6.8 individuals which translates into a population density of 223.2±60.7 individuals per hectare. The sex ratio of the population of animals captured was strongly female biased and the distribution of captured animals was significantly aggregated.

Human-Assisted Invasions of Pacific Islands by Litoria Frogs: A Case Study of the Bleating Tree Frog on Lord Howe Island
There are substantial differences among taxonomic groups in their capacity to reach remote oceanic islands via long-distance overwater dispersal from mainland regions. Due to their permeable skin and intolerance of saltwater, amphibians generally require human-assisted dispersal to reach oceanic islands. Several Litoria frog species have been introduced to remote islands throughout the Pacific ...
متن کاملMitochondrial DNA sequence-based phylogenetic relationship of Trichiurus lepturus (Perciformes: Trichiuridae) from the Persian Gulf
In this study, mitochondrial DNA analysis using 16S ribosomal DNA (rDNA) was performed to investigate the phylogeny relationship of Trichiurus lepturus in the Persian Gulf compared to the other investigated area. The amplification of 16S rDNA resulted in a product of 600 bp in all samples. The results showed that the isolated strain belongs to T. lepturus showing 42 divergence sites among the s...
متن کاملShuffled Frog-Leaping Programming for Solving Regression Problems
There are various automatic programming models inspired by evolutionary computation techniques. Due to the importance of devising an automatic mechanism to explore the complicated search space of mathematical problems where numerical methods fails, evolutionary computations are widely studied and applied to solve real world problems. One of the famous algorithm in optimization problem is shuffl...
متن کاملCalling at the highway: The spatiotemporal constraint of road noise on Pacific chorus frog communication
Loss of acoustic habitat due to anthropogenic noise is a key environmental stressor for vocal amphibian species, a taxonomic group that is experiencing global population declines. The Pacific chorus frog (Pseudacris regilla) is the most common vocal species of the Pacific Northwest and can occupy human-dominated habitat types, including agricultural and urban wetlands. This species is exposed t...
